Mystery Readers
Mystery readings take place on Fridays from 11:20 to 11:40 and 3:10 to 3:30. This is a wonderful and exciting way to end the week. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and older siblings are welcome to sign up to be a Mystery Reader.
Mystery readers have two options for reading to the class. One is reading to the students face-face. You come to the school during your assigned time and read. The other (and new this year) is through Skype. This will hopefully allow more families to participate, since the Mystery Reader does not need to be at MHES to read to the class. They just need a computer with a camera and a Skype account. Mystery Readers are responsible for selecting a fiction or non-fiction book to read to the class. If possible, please select a book that is related to one of our science or social studies concepts. This is not mandatory though. If you are interested in being a Mystery Reader for your child's class, please complete the form below or send a note in with your second grader. |

Signing Up for a time slot does not guarantee you have been selected to read on that day and time. If you are selected for a specific day, a notice will be sent home in your child's Friday Folder. It will be at that time that you inform me of how you will be reading to the class, face-to-face or through Skype. It is important to me that all students have the opportunity to have someone important to him or her read to the class. It is not uncommon for one student to have three different families members sign up. While that is wonderful and heartwarming, I do think about the student whose may not be as fortunate. When arranging readers, I give priority to students who have not had a special person to read to the class during the school year.
